Finds From Japan: Green Tea Caramels

By June 1, 2010

Over the next week, I'll be sharing a few of the tea-related things I found in Japan. None of them are high-brow collectors items (although I did pick up a few of those as well!), but they do meet two important criteria: They are fun and they are relatively rare in North America.

Today's "Find From Japan" is green tea caramel. It's not as tasty as the next find on the list, but it is a great representation of the wide availability of green tea foods in Japan. Green tea is in a huge range of foods, like tea-rice soup, Kit Kats and all sorts of candies. It seems like everywhere you go, there's something made with tea... and that's what's truly remarkable about this "find" -- the fact that it is so commonplace in Japan, yet so uncommon here.

Next up: Green Tea Yokan.
