Years ago I was told not to have any caffeine for about 30 hours before having a sleep study done. As I remember, my last cup of coffee was at 3 pm the day before the study.

The next day around 10 am I had a headache that rapidly increased to pain as bad as a migraine. I had a massage scheduled; my boyfriend drove me there and back, but on the way home I had to have him stop the car so I could vomit on the side of the road.

I continued to vomit, and the pain kept increasing, to the point that I had to cancel the sleep study. The doctor told me to drink Coca Cola rather than coffee. My boyfriend had to go and buy some as I never normally drank Coke.

After I drank some, my symptoms decreased rapidly and disappeared within a very short time, but it left me entirely worn out. NEVER go cold turkey on caffeine!
