Herbs and spices are popular beverage ingredients, both as flavorings for coffee and tea and as 'herbal teas.' Lately, I've been building up a glossary of tisanes and herbs / spices for coffee and tea. Here are the most recent additions:
- Lemongrass -- Commonly used in Thai food, lemongrass is also a fantastic addition to teas and herbal infusions.
- Fennel Seed -- A natural digestive aid, fennel seed has been used in everything from curries to breath fresheners to coffee and tea.
- Nutmeg -- Notorious for its use as a drug, yet beloved for its warming flavor, nutmeg is a fantastic addition to many coffees and spiced teas (such as masala chai).
