How To Clean Your Drip Coffee Maker

Your coffee will taste better if you clean out your machine periodically. Here's an easy way to clean inside.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: n/a

Here's How:

  1. Dissolve 1 oz of citric acid in 4 cups of hot water.
  2. Add 4 cups of cold water to the solution
  3. Pour solution into the water section of your machine.
  4. Turn on your coffee maker (no filter) and let about half the solution run through.
  5. Stop the machine and let it sit for 20 minutes.
  6. Start it up again, and let the rest of the cleaning solution of go through.
  7. Rinse everything out by running 8 cups of cold fresh water through your machine, at least 4 times.

Tips:

  1. You can get citric acid at your grocery store, in the canning section.
  2. You can scale down the amount of cleaning solution for smaller coffee makers.
  3. Clean your coffee maker one a month.
