These Tumbles look a little "tumbled," but they taste great!

Dufflet's handmade, natural hazelnut and coffee liqueur "Chocolate Tumbles" are a tasty and unusual addition to the world of coffee chocolates. If you love chocolate, coffee and nuts, give them a try with your next hazelnut coffee or cup of straight black coffee.

Appearance

Dufflet's packaging for their Chocolate Tumbles line is chic and appealing. Dufflet is a Canadian company, so everything is in English and French. (Hey, this could be a good option for your francophone friends!)

Being both handmade and moist, the Chocolate Tumbles themselves look a little, well, tumbled. (Perhaps that's where the name comes from.) Of course, it doesn't matter what they look like if they taste great, right? Let's get on to the tasting portion of the review...

Aroma, Texture & Flavor

The aroma of these confections is simply wonderful. It's a balance of hazelnut and coffee that can't be beat.

The texture really sets it apart from similar sweets. It's somewhere between a Lara Bar (or other date-nut bar) and a chocolate truffle with chopped nuts. I was a little surprised by it at first, but ultimately found it to be a refreshing departure from the norm.

The flavor leans heavily toward hazelnut. There are hints of coffee and chocolate. It's even less focused on these flavors than the Cafe-Tasse Lait Cafe. However, unlike the Cafe-Tasse bar, it's not to sweet.

Overall Opinion

Dufflet's Hazelnut and Coffee Liqueur Chocolate Tumbles stand out fro the crowd of coffee chocolates on the market. Perhaps other companies will soon follow Dufflet's leaf in creating more innovative coffee chocolates like these. In the meantime, if you like coffee, chocolate and hazelnuts (Who doesn't?) I recommend pairing these mellow coffee chocolates with hazelnut coffee or a good Guatemalan coffee.
