An image of a Blackberry Arnold Palmer (blackberry lemonade-iced tea blend).

Most Arnold Palmers are simple mixtures of lemonade and iced tea. This recipe adds muddled fresh blackberries for a bright color and an even more summery flavor.

This Arnold Palmer (a.k.a. "half and half" or "iced tea lemonade") recipe is different from your usual iced tea-lemonade blend in that it gets some of its summery flavor from fresh, ripe blackberries.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

Yield: 3-4 servings

Ingredients:

  • 3 heaping tsp. black tea (preferably Ceylon black tea)
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 2-4 Tbsp. sugar or sugar alternative (depending on your desired level of sweetness)
  • About 15 large blackberries
  • About 3/4 c. fresh-squeezed lemon juice (from 2-3 large lemons)
  • 16 ice cubes (about 1 ice tray worth), plus more for each glass

Preparation:

  1. Steep the black tealeaves in the boiling water for 4 to 5 minutes.
  2. Remove the tealeaves from the brewed tea. As the tea cools slightly, stir in the sugar or sugar alternative.
  3. In a large pitcher, muddle the blackberries.
  4. Pour the lemon juice and ice over the blackberries.
  5. Add the sweet tea and stir well.
  6. Serve in tall glasses over ice.
