Guide Review - Cold Drip Coffee Maker

This coffee maker is really quite gorgeous and would make a lovely addition to your kitchen, though it is 2-feet tall. Ice and water are placed in the top jar, and by regulating the dripping water through the valve in the center, coffee is steeped and ends up in the carafe at the bottom of the tower. The whole process takes around 6 hours.

By slowly brewing your coffee with ice water, the harsher oils in your ground coffee are not brought out. The final brew is quite a bit more mellow than what I would brew in my regular drip machine.

In theory, it's a grand idea but I found the machine a little frustrating to use. I didn't know how much ice to put in the jar, and the valve in the middle was really touchy. It took me several minutes to get the rate of drip down to the recommended 1-drip-per-second.

And though the final coffee was very nicely flavoured, it was definitely not a 'concentrate'. It was about as strong as regularly brewed coffee.

This coffee maker is a real conversation piece, but I don't know if I would recommend it for daily use.
