Definition: Conical burr grinders are the preferred grinding method for espresso shots. They produce a higher surface area and (thanks to a slower grind speed) fuller flavor than flat burr grinders.
To use a conical burr grinder, first load coffee beans into the hopper, keeping it full during grinding whenever possible.
Then, select a grind size and activate the grinder for 15 to 20 seconds. (Some grinders have a lever for this. Others have a button. Some are on timers, while other must be switched off.)
Some grinders require that you flip a lever during grinding to dispense the ground coffee. If yours does, then take this step.
You now have freshly ground coffee.
After about 2000 pounds of coffee have been ground, it's time to replace the conical burrs in the grinder.
