Definition: Also known as "Tea County," Nantou County is a tea-producing region in central Taiwan.
The Lugu Township area of Nantou produces Dong Ding (a.k.a. 'Tung Ting') Oolongs. The medium-altitude hilly plateaus of Dong Ding produce less floral teas than the nearby higher elevations, such as Shan Lin Xi, but their diverse range of tea products (such as Dark Roast Oolongs, Red Oolong and Royal Courtesan Oolong) sets them apart from other growing regions.
Shan Lin Xi is also part of Nantou County. It is famous for its light, floral, ethereal high elevation oolongs.
In the lower elevations of Nantou, you'll find Sun Moon Lake, a touristy area known for its black teas.
