Gingerberry Kombucha combines a bold kombucha flavor with a sharp ginger kick and a hint of blueberry.

Marko Goodwin
Like many of the kombuchas from Synergy Drinks, Synergy Gingerberry Kombucha has a bold, tart kombucha flavor that's great for serious kombucha drinkers, but not ideal for, say, soda drinkers.

Color, Aroma & Flavor

Gingerberry Kombucha has an appealing color akin to blueberry juice. It's aroma is classic kombucha tartness spiked with a ginger kick and a touch of blueberry sweetness. Likewise, the flavor is heavy on ginger, perhaps making Gingerberry Kombucha a good pick for people with sinus problems. Kombucha's vinegar-like flavor is also strong, while blueberry fades into the background.

Aftertaste & Physical Effects

The ginger heat of Gingerberry fades fast. The tart vinegar note and sweet flavor of ripe blueberries linger, as does a sort of funky, tropical fruit note. However, what lasts the longest is the physical effects of kombucha. Like other raw kombuchas, Gingerberry is said to have an unusual impact on the body. While I can't vouch for any medical benefits (and I personally doubt a number of the wild health claims circulating about it), I can say that it had a rejuvenating, refreshing mental and physical impact on me.

Overall Opinion

In terms of flavor, this isn't Synergy's best kombucha, but it isn't as strong or as "good-for-you" in flavor as some kombuchas out there. Personally, I prefer GT's Organic Raw Botanic No. 3 Kombucha and GT's Organic Raw Botanic No. 9 Kombucha (both of which are from Synergy) to Synergy Gingerberry Kombucha.

I felt like a Michelin Man after drinking this, Member amhey

I thought this might be a better energy drink than Gatorade or Powerade and was on a bike ride. I had this with a small meal for lunch. The ginger taste was great. I don't like beer or vinegar. It tasted like bad beer. I did not taste any berries. I don't normally drink fizzy drinks and so the fizziness made me feel bloated. I had to bike mainly downhill over 10 miles - for the first 8 I felt dreadful - very bloated. I wonder if the lactic acid caused a problem - I'm lactose intolerant. This is one of the worst drinks I've tasted. I don't like sweet drinks - it had a strange slightly sweet and bitter at the same time and yeasty taste. I must have some terrible toxins in my body according to websites - but the effects were within 10 minutes of drinking it.
