by Sean Paajanen
for About.com

Layer upon layer of sweet tastes like coconut, chocolate, brown sugar and walnuts. Lots of flavours with very little work. These squares are crunchy, chewy and chocolatey all at the same time.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 6 oz chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut flakes
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350F. Pour melted butter into the bottom of a 9x13 baking pan. Add an even layer of wafer crumbs. Then a layer of nuts, then chocolate chips, then coconut flakes. In a mixing bowl, blend evaporated milk with brown sugar. Pour over the layered mixture, evenly. Bake for 25 minutes. Let cool for an hour before cutting into squares.
