An image of Javaz Milk chocolate and Javaz Dark chocolate coffee candies.

The sophisticated Javaz Dark is smoother and mellower than Javaz Milk.

Like Javaz Milk, Javaz Dark has all the snackability and fun of M&Ms, with a flavor profile and ethical stance that appeals to serious coffee drinkers. Organic Arabica coffee beans are coated in dark chocolate and a candy shell (akin to M&Ms or Jordan almonds) for a deliciously appealing snack. You can read more about its specialty food status (natural, fairly traded, Kosher, etc.) in the Javaz Milk review.

(Full Disclosure -- Javaz are currently only available through Foodzie.com, for whom I have previously written.)

Appearance & Aroma

Whereas Javaz Milk are pale cream with tan-brown speckles, Javaz Dark are muted brown with cream speckles. The color is sophisticated and would appeal to adults far more than children.

Javaz Milk smells more of coffee than chocolate. Javaz Dark is the opposite. Sweet, rich chocolate aromas emanate from the bag.

Texture & Flavor

The texture of Javaz Dark is akin to Jordan almonds, but the coffee bean in the center is crunchier.

The flavor is surprisingly mellow. It's far smoother than most chocolate-covered coffee beans on the market, and is even smoother than Javaz Milk. I found the crunch and the rich flavor to be delightfully addictive.

Overall Opinion

Like Javaz Milk, this is a good buy. Personally, I found the smoother flavor profile to be more pleasing than the assertive profile of Javaz Milk. I would recommend this grown-up confection to anyone who loves mocha coffees or loves dark chocolate and coffee.
