Silk Pumpkin Spice Soymilk is a good dairy-free, vegan alternative to eggnog and other traditional, milk-based holiday beverages.

Marko Goodwin
If you're looking for a vegan, lactose-free, ready-to-drink holiday beverage, this fits the bill. It's good hot or cold and has the creamy texture and warming spices you'd expect from a holiday beverage. Although I prefer Silk's "Silk Nog", their Pumpkin Spice Soymilk is also worth trying during its limited seasonal availability.

Health Benefits

There are several advantages to drinking Silk's Pumpkin Spice Soymilk instead of eggnog during the holidays. It's lactose- and dairy-free, so those with dairy allergies can drink it (so long as they aren't also allergic to soy!). It's lower in fat and saturated fats than many low-fat eggnogs. It's also a good source of soy, which has many health benefits. Unlike many store-bought eggnogs, it doesn't have any artificial flavors. Unlike many homemade eggnogs, it doesn't have raw eggs.

Flavor & Mouthfeel

Pumpkin Spice Spymilkk has a subtle pumpkin flavor with notes of warming spices. It's very sippable hot or cold, in part because it's not as sweet or rich as eggnog. There's a slight saltiness to Pumpkin Spice that is both unexpected and pleasing.

The mouthfeel is very creamy for soy milk, but it's not so creamy compared to actual eggnog.

Overall Opinion

Personally, I prefer the flavor of Silk's soy milk eggnog, but find their Pumpkin Spice Soymilk to be enjoyable, too. Hot or cold, it's a good alternative for those who can't (or don't want to) sip eggnog during the holidays. It also makes a fun, seasonal alternative to milk or creamer in coffee.
