Zojirushi's Tuff Slim is almost everything you'd want in a Thermos-style beverage container. It is made from stainless steel, great at retaining heat, unbreakable and easy to use.
Pros
Zojirushi's Tuff Slim has a lot going for it. Here are a few of my favorite things about it:
- It's unbreakable and its exterior is stainless steel.
- It's easy to use and carry.
- It's remarkably lightweight.
- It retains heat well. I tested it and four other Thermos-style containers with boiling water. After eight hours, the water in the Zojirushi Tuff Slim was still very hot. After 12 hours, it was still hot. After 24 hours, it was still warm. The Tuff Slim outperformed all the other containers I tested.
- It comes with its own cup.
- It has a neutral, modern style that suits a range of lifestyles and aesthetics.
- Its mouth is wide enough to fit full-sizes ice cubes inside.
- It comes with a five-year warranty.
Cons
There are sour main drawbacks to Zojirushi's Tuff Slim:
- It's more expensive than most Thermos-style containers (though I think it's worth the price).
- The lid operation is slightly counter-intuitive. You open it with the push of a red button, which is obvious, but to close it, it appears that you would press the tab-style opening shut. However, you actually have to push in a separate tab to close it, which is odd to say the last.
- It needs to be cleaned with a narrow brush, as the mouth is too narrow for you to fit a sponge or hand inside.
- It holds 17 ounces of liquid (a little over two cups' worth), which may not be enough for serious coffee or tea drinkers.
Overall Opinion
Despite a few small drawbacks, this is a fantastic product. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants hot coffee or tea throughout the day (or up to 24 hours after pouring it).
