You'll have to taste them to know what's so special about these tea biscuits. The spice flavours are very subtle which makes them tasty with a good jam or cream spread.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tbs sugar
  • 1 tbs baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp mace

Preparation:

Preheat your oven to 450F. In a large bowl, sift together flour, 2tbs sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Cut the butter in with a fork. In another bowl, whip egg and milk together. Add to flour mixture. Mix well and form into a ball of dough. Knead gently on a floured board. Roll out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut out circles about an inch in diameter. Bake on a cookie sheet for 7 minutes, or until golden. Dip half of each biscuit into melted butter, and then into sugar and mace (mixed together)
