Guide Review - Blooming Display Tea

I think this might be the most interesting cup of tea I've ever had. These balls of dried tea leaves are about the size of a large gumball. The leaves are tightly and neatly packed. Dropped in hot water to steep, the leaves slowly loosen up and unfurl.

Over the course of a few minutes, the water begins to darken and the tea ball fully opens. In the middle is a pale white blossom. At this point, it had sunk to the bottom of the cup, making it a little hard to see through the tea. Still very impressive. I tried the Red Bloom tea, and the smell was very floral as the tea steeped.

Once the ball had opened completely and the tea was ready, I was a little unsure what to do. Half my cup was filled with petals and long tea leaves. A straining nightmare. I was pleased to see that the entire mass of leaves lifted out of my cup in a single piece. Perfect. I was left was a nice cup of black tea, ready to drink. I've never had fun watching tea steep before.
