Your Inspiration
I am an Indian. My maid and I would always make this masala chai and have it with cookies or biscuits for tea. It is rich in flavor and a very comforting drink.
The spices added also make it a healthy beverage. You may also add two leaves of basil leaves and two/three leaves of fresh mint for added flavor. But, that's optional.
The above is the authentic Indian Masala Chai.
P.S.: I have now moved to Vancouver, Canada. And, I notice that Chai is often referred to "Chai Tea". The Indian translation for tea [in Hindi] is "Chai." It's just "Chai" which means Indian Masala tea or "Tea" and not "Chai Tea.
Advice
- It is a comforting health drink; and can be had at any time of the day or night.
- Too much boiling of tea leaves releases toxic substances.
- Tea leaves should only be simmered for flavor release.
